John Gray has had long experience of the information economy and also of the apparent dichotomy, which continues to affect working relationships between the Public and Private Sectors within the UK. From his days as founding Director of Richards Gray (One of the largest independent property information companies in the UK) to his present position where he remains both an independent consultant to Richards Gray and also Managing Director of PSI Consulting (UK) Ltd, John Gray has an abiding interest in the potential benefits of the Re-Use of Public Sector Information. He has recently engaged in extensive research of the position of the Local Authority sector within England & Wales with particular relevance to the acceptance and management of their responsibilities with regards the 2005 European Directive on the Re-Use of Public Sector Information. This work follows on from an earlier survey of the preparedness of the Local Authority Sector undertaken in January 2006. The most recent research provides for an in-depth insight into the current position by virtue of the replies from Local Authorities, to an open letter to all 426 (Local Authority) Chief Executive Officers in England & Wales & whose Authorities form the 'bedrock' of public administration in the UK employing close to Two Million staff & managing the local governance needs of over Fifty Million citizens.
